Laila Zahed
Laila Zahed has a PhD in Human Genetics from the University of London and has been working in that field in Lebanon since 1992. Recently, she has decided to explore other avenues in her life. Since she loves being around children ("I prefer them to adults, they have such a positive outlook on life") and travelling is one of her passions, she came up with the idea of creating a series of books for children about countries they have probably only heard of by name. Previously, Laila had contributed a short story for children (Click, the computer mouse) in a book for the Children's Cancer Center in Beirut, titled Let me tell you a story (2005). She has recently published a guidebook for adults, entitled Beyrouth-Paris (Tamyras publishers) and has many future plans for further books both for adults and for children. She is known as the "baker" in her family and her cakes and cookies are requested by people of all ages.
